IBPS Clerk exam is one of the most sought exams for those who want to work in the banking sector. Job Profile of IBPS Clerk:
Bank clerk is the ultimate guiding source for the customers of every bank. Most of the queries are handled by him, besides this clerk is trained to accomplish some important duties during the probation period these are:
- Trained As a SINGLE WINDOW OPERATOR (SWO)
In this clerk is expected to be a part of normal duties like receipt of cheques, drafts, cash passing and cash payment.
- Trained as the HEAD CASHIER (HC)
The duties of head cashier involve holding the bank’s cash, bank keys and other such valuables in safe custody. These duties are performed jointly with an officer and being responsible and answerable for the rationalized administration of the cash department.
- Trained as a SPECIAL ASSISTANTS (SA)
As a Special Assistant the duties he or she is expected to do is to check the work of other clerks and sub staff. Besides this he or she is responsible to run the concerned department where he or she is deputed.
- Trained as UNIVERSAL TELLER: (UT)
Universal Teller is expected to accomplish the duty of receiving cheques, withdrawal of forms, etc., update pass books, verify customers account details, signature, etc. He or she should know the features of various bank’s products and services. Salary of IBPS Clerk:
IBPS Clerk is entitled for various allowances other than the basic pay which is almost equivalent to all the Public Sector Banks. He or she will be called for joining from any of the 15 Nationalized Bank after qualifying the exam.
Basic Pay of IBPS Clerk:
The Pay Scale of Bank Clerk is: Rs 11,765 – Rs 42,020.
The Basic pay thus amounts to be Rs 11,765
There is an increment after one year of continued service and the amount is somewhere near to Rs 400/- Further in the 2nd year it will be Rs 500/- for the next 3 years.
Allowances entitled for IBPS Clerk
The key allowances entitled to an IBPS Clerk, who will be employed in any of the 15 Public Sector banks, are
- 1. Dearness Allowance:
Dearness Allowance is given which is adjusted for every three months as there is an increase in DA. The change in DA depends upon the customer price index i.e CPI which can go up or down depending upon CPI.
- House Rent Allowance:
House Rent is allocated according to the city in which IBPS Clerk is posted at. It varies from city to city. The calculation goes as given below:
- In case the posting is in metro cities HRA will be 8.50% of Basic Pay.
- If the city has a population more than 5 lakh, HRA will be 7.50% of Basic Pay.
- If the posting is in any other metro cities HRA will be 6.50% of Basic Pay.
3. Medical Allowance:
Medical allowance is predetermined at Rs 20000 and is paid annually.
Scope of promotion for IBPS Clerk:
- Clerk post is just the starting point of a banking job, one gets lot of opportunities to get promoted from time to time.
- There is an automatic confirmation if you work regularly for 6 months after joining in a bank.
- Clerk is given an opportunity to appear for a promotional exam after few years of the service to become an officer. Once he or she cracks that exam he becomes a Trainee Officer.
- Then he or she reaches at the same level of PO, and all the future promotion prospects will be same to him as that of a PO
- These are some of the important features which an aspirant must know. These updates are not given by anybody while you are taking bank coaching in Pathankot or elsewhere as these is not the part of the syllabus or exam pattern.
